1) You are the eyes and ears of the Project Engineer, reporting directly to him. 2) Ensuring that the contract is being constructed as per the Specification and relevant documents. 3) Keeping of an accurate record of events occurring on site. Also plant & personnel. 4) Safety. 5) Checking levels, measurements, agreeing quantities. (Rock, additional excavations) 6) Agreeing day work sheets (record purposes only) 7) Liaise with Gas/Water/Telephone/Electric, regarding protection of their services etc. 8) Keep wall chart up to date showing progress etc. SETTINGOUT: - Check center peg position, and that orientation pegs are set. Check profile for tower position. Agree difference in ground levels, relevant to centre peg level, as this will be recorded with a datum level. EXCAVATIONS: - There are numerous types of foundations used for overhead line towers. Standard one is Uplift/Compression type. (Buoyancy founds) (Concrete leg extensions used when difference in GL is greater than 200mm?) (Buoyancy founds used when level of water attains a certain level, and dependent on design calculations with regard to spread of weight and loadings from the tower, and any additional uplift, this determines the size of the pad. Auger foundations. Piled foundations with pile cap or ring beam. Vertical bored Foundation Steel tube foundation Rock anchor Reinforced concrete slab for wide based towers. Pyrapad foundation Dependent on type of ground encountered any one of the above could be used. Contractor to supply foundation sheet, this should contain all the information necessary to carry out excavations, and should be checked. Ensure Top Soil is kept separate from sub-soil. Record soil makeup, dry/wet, any tile drains, Rock, report unstable formation and high water table to Project Manager, as buoyancy found will probably be required. Check depth of excavation as work proceeds. (Tape with weight on end) Ensure that timbering to the sides of excavations is carried out before deterioration to the sides takes place, as sides may collapse in, resulting in loss of frustum values. Start Date: 07-03-2008 Duration: Contract Reference: GLA555 Industry Sector: Engineering - Mechanical Salary: £40000 per annum
